Santa Ana Pueblo Position Classification and Description POSITION TITLE: Adult Day Care Aide CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt DEPARTMENT: Health and Human Services SUPERVISOR: Adult Day Care Manager GRADE: NE3 Uncertified Adult Day Care Aide I NE4 Certified as CNA Adult Day Care Aide II Position Summary: Under the direct supervision of the Adult Day Care Manager, the incumbent performs a variety of daily duties in support of the Adult Day Care (ADC) program. This position is responsible for assisting participants with daily living activities and medical needs while helping to maintain the dignity and independence of the participant while in the center and/or in the community. This list of duties and responsibilities is illustrative only of tasks performed by this position and is not all inclusive. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Assists ADC participants by providing information, services and assistance ensuring patients feel at ease. Assists ADC participants with daily activities of living (ADLs) including dining, showering, toileting, feeding, grooming, and ambulation/transfers as Assists with cleaning and sanitizing patient areas, changing linen and restocking rooms with necessary supplies. Assists ADC Manager with intake, assessments, and case management of participants by verifying participants medical history and information as needed. Perform basic vitals, such as checking blood pressure, oxygen saturation, weight, and Documents information to client Maintain client files and keep patient information confidential. Works as a team member with other staff, tribal programs, medical providers, and family/caretakers to ensure the medical needs of the participant are being met. Assists ADC Manager with ADC participants, including arranging transportation to medical appointments, assisting with referrals, and assists with medication Assists participants in reviewing medications and/or special diets or medical instructions as needed. Performs administrative duties for the ADC program, including answering telephones, greeting participants and family members, updating participants records, handling Attends ongoing training and in-service training as Maintains department standards of strict confidentiality on all Participates in cross-departmental collaboration in alignment with the mission, vision, and values of the department. Follows Pueblo, department, and program policy and procedures, and chain of Performs other duties as Knowledge, Abilities, Skills and Certifications: Knowledge of Pueblo of Santa Ana traditions, language, history, and Knowledge and adherence to all pertinent tribal, federal, and state Knowledge of cognitive and neurological impairments such as Major Neurocognitive Disorder (MND), previously known as dementia, confusion, decline in memory, complex attention, language, perceptual-motor, or social cognition, as well as other chronic health conditions. Basic understanding of medical terminology, basic life support, basic first aid, and assistance with medication management. Knowledge of infection control guidelines, HIPAA regulations, supply management, scheduling, case management, and medical teamwork. Ability to prioritize workloads, maintain confidentiality, work autonomously and with initiative. Proficiency in utilizing several word processing, spreadsheet, and database software applications within a Windows setting. Ability to interact and maintain good working relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds. Ability to demonstrate moral character, honesty, tact, fairness, lack of prejudice, and desire to help when dealing with people. Ability to exercise independent Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively both verbally and in Minimum Qualifications: High School graduate or equivalent education (GED) and 3 years experience in a health care setting, preferably working with the elderly. Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Certified Medical Assistant, Home Health Aide (HHA), or Certified Caregiver preferred. If not certified will obtain certification within 90 days from date of hire. Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider-level CPR and First Aid certifications are preferred. If not certified will obtain certification within 90 days from date of hire. The ability to speak the Keres Language is preferred. Must have a positive attitude and be able to work independently. Must be in good health and free of communicable diseases. Must be willing to submit to health screenings, such as TB and COVID-19 testing. Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen and background investigation including a motor vehicle check. Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico drivers license and be insurable under the Pueblos insurance. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk and to stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move and transfer 50 pounds or more. Work Environment: Work is generally performed in a day care setting with a moderate noise level. At times, work may occur in the clients home in the community. Situations where extreme caution must be exercised occur in the daily activities of this job.
