The Department of Neurological Surgery at UW Medicine seeks candidates for a full-time appointment and is a Assistant Professor (without tenure for reasons due to funding) in the clinician-educator pathway. This position involves a dynamic and multifaceted role in the Department of Neurological Surgery, contributing to both clinical care and teaching across two major UW Medicine sites: Harborview Medical Center (HMC) and Seattle Children?s Hospital (SCH). Reporting to Dr. Louis J. Kim, Dr. Amy Lee, and the Department Chair, Dr. Richard G. Ellenbogen, the role includes providing neurological surgery services, including trauma, congenital care, and general pediatric neurosurgery. The incumbent will play a key role in the Transitional Congenital Practice at HMC, support pediatric and adult trauma cases, and serve as a liaison for military patient care. Additionally, this role requires active participation in departmental Grand Rounds, conferences, and teaching initiatives, as well as engagement in research projects within the Clinician Education Track.
Assistant Professors are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. The base salary range for this position in this title will be $47,307 - $55,402 per month ($567,684 to $664,823 per year), commensurate with experience, discipline, and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.
Our salaries are bench marked based on the AAMC scale. Other compensation associated with this position may or may not include Startup, Relocation Incentive/Moving Allowance Administrative supplement for a defined administrative role, or Productivity Incentive.
