The Division of Transplant Surgery Department of Surgery at the University of Washington School of Medicine is accepting applications for a full-time, Pediatric Transplant Surgeon faculty position at the rank of Associate Professor without tenure by reason of funding (WOT) or Professor WOT. Associate and full professors WOT hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. The expected start date is the start of calendar year 2025.

This position will be primarily based at Seattle Children's Hospital (SCH) and the successful candidate will participate in surgical transplantation procedures, clinics, candidate selection, and donor organ evaluation and recovery in children. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in living donor liver transplantation (LDLT) and to grow the SCH LDLT program. Additional SCH leadership roles could be available depending on candidate's experience. This position will also be expected to participate in the UW Medical Center - Montlake (UWMC) adult transplant program by taking call and participating in surgical transplantation procedures as needed.

At the rank of Associate Professor (WOT): The base salary range for this position will be: $35,000 - $39,167 per month ($420,000 - $470,004 annually). At the rank of Professor (WOT): The base salary range for this position will be: $42,500 - $46,667 per month ($510,000 - $560,004 annually). Base salaries at all ranks will be commensurate with candidate experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the Children's University Medical Group (CUMG) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Other compensation associated with this position may include incentive through CUMG and a leadership role administrative supplement for qualified candidates. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by CUMG practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization.

Qualifications

Requirements for this position include:

  • MD degree (or foreign equivalent)
  • Board eligibility (or foreign equivalent) by the American Board of Surgery
  • Successful completion of a transplant surgery fellowship
  • Eligible for medical licensure in state of Washington

In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
