Job Description

We are looking for a talented, ambitious and hands-on chef who is ready to make a lifestyle change.

We are a respected, well-loved upscale restaurant located on the water in the summer resort town of Sister Bay, in beautiful Door County, WI. We are looking for a culinary professional who has creative ideas, technical skill and a strong work ethic and is able and eager to bring those assets to a successful kitchen team. The ideal candidate will have an insatiable passion for food, but isn't afraid of the hard work it takes to execute those visions. We are looking for someone who thrives in the high-pressure environment of restaurants. You must have a willingness to take an active role in every station within the BOH. We are open seasonally, which allows for flexibility and freedom away from the kitchen to recharge. We have private and shared housing options available.

We are family-owned and operated, and have no confines of a traditional kitchen hierarchy. If you work hard, there is no limit. You would be working alongside a diverse BOH team and the owners, who are extremely involved and work service on a nightly basis. We encourage ambition and are always open to employees actively participating in the growth and evolution of the restaurant. There is a support structure in our company to achieve goals, as we've been operating successfully for 15+ years.

Qualifications:

  • At least 4 years of relevant, reputable restaurant experience required
  • Culinary and/or college degree recommended, or considerable working knowledge of food preparation and restaurant service
  • Highly organized, productive, and able to work meticulously in a high-intensity kitchen
  • Energetic and open-minded personality, with strong willingness to work as part of a cohesive team and to respect, train and support colleagues regardless of role
  • Willingness to lead, but also take direction, embrace change, and to learn and adapt
  • Availability to work days, nights and Holidays
  • Excited to dream big, but also show up every day to prep and work a busy service
  • Strong, positive communication skills and ability to remain calm under pressure
Overview of Responsibilities:

  • Work and serve as lead member of a dedicated culinary team, preparing and executing the nightly dinner service
  • Contribute ideas to develop creative menus and specials
  • Be able to handle rigors of busy services while not sacrificing quality and consistency of dishes
  • Support other areas of the kitchen as needed, and be able and willing to assist teammates in the kitchen as needed, including but not limited to prep, plating, washing dishes

This is an opportunity to take your career to the next level, to change your lifestyle, create beautiful food and experiences, live in an amazing community, have time off every winter to explore and feed your passion and work in an environment built around respect.

Kindly email a brief but personal introduction and your resume.
