Job Description

Students are engaged in a community animated by a love of learning, enriched by a diversity of backgrounds and perspectives, and guided by a covenant of common trust. Students and teachers work together as a community of learners dedicated to intellectual rigor and creative endeavor. In a caring and challenging atmosphere, students discover and develop talents as scholars, artists, musicians, and athletes and are encouraged to find their voices. The school is committed to embracing and broadening the diversity of backgrounds, perspectives, and talents of its people. Common trust challenges students to balance individual freedom with responsibility and service to a larger community. Such learning prepares students for lives as committed citizens.

We actively seek applicants who reflect and support our mission-driven commitment to creating and maintaining a diverse and equitable school community. The successful applicant will have demonstrated experience with inclusive teaching practices and a commitment to advancing the core tenets of the school’s mission.

Concord Academy Mission Statement

We are a community animated by love of learning,

diverse and striving for equity,

with common trust as our foundation.

Honoring each individual, we challenge and expand

our understanding of ourselves and the world

through purposeful collaboration and creative engagement.

We cultivate empathy, integrity, and responsibility

to build a more just and sustainable future.

The school seeks to appoint an experienced full-time teacher in support of a strong and well-established dance program. The successful candidate will value and seek out opportunities to collaborate with colleagues and engage with a diverse community. They will bring a creative and innovative interest to curriculum design and experimentation and a keen commitment to their own development as a teacher. We are looking for candidates with genuine enthusiasm for working with adolescents, curiosity about learning, commitment to professional and personal growth, and experience supporting students through inclusive curriculum and equitable practices.

The Concord Academy performing arts department seeks a collaborative, dynamic, and innovative dance teaching artist. Candidates must possess a strong professional and/or academic background in modern dance and ballet and have strong choreographic skills. Responsibilities include teaching courses in all levels of dance technique in one or more of the following forms: contemporary modern dance, ballet, improvisation, and composition. The ability to teach other dance forms or areas of dance studies including hip hop, jazz, and/or vernacular dance forms, or other topics in the candidate’s area of expertise is strongly desired. Additional responsibilities include choreographing for one to two dance concerts for the Concord Academy Dance Project ensemble, as well as choreographing a yearly musical in collaboration with the theater program.

The school provides a competitive benefits package, and salary is commensurate with experience. All faculty members at Concord Academy participate fully in the life of the school; responsibilities include advising, serving on committees and/or clubs, and periodically providing an adult presence at school events. On-campus housing may be available, but it is limited, and faculty members are not required to live at the school.

Interested candidates are asked to send a cover letter, transcripts, and resume via the  ADP portal  addressed to: Sarah Yeh, Associate Head for Teaching, Learning, and Faculty.
