Job Description

Position Summary:

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Edit/Media Specialist I Design for the Department to Office of University Online Education Services. The Media Specialist I works collaboratively with Instructional Designers, faculty, and other stakeholders to create engaging multimedia content that aligns with course learning objectives for online courses.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • Consults with faculty and instructional designers to identify key course concepts that require multimedia components.
  • Author scripts and storyboards for multimedia projects based on instructional needs.
  • Guides faculty through the multimedia creation process from ideation to final product.
  • Develops and delivers training for faculty and staff on multimedia tools and best practices, including, teaching the Academic Video Production Course.
  • Produces high-quality audio, video, graphics, animations, and other multimedia assets.
  • Edits and post-produces multimedia projects at a professional level.
  • Stays current on trends in multimedia design, engagement strategies, and educational technologies.
  • Assists with planning, organization and implementation of multimedia recording facilities.

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree preferably in communications, media, film or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Minimum of two years working in a media production environment or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.

Equipment Utilized:

  • Adobe Suite of products including Premier Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator.
  • Other software includes Camtasia, Articulate, Powtoons and Kaltura, Frame i/o, Descript, Runway as well as other media based online tools.
  • Professional level digital video cameras, audio recording equipment and lighting equipment.
  • Hardware and software for use in studio systems.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • A valid state driver's license and access to a vehicle for on-location video shoots.

Special Conditions:

  • Clean Driving Record.
