Events & Communication Specialist Location Remote : Company: Mavely Position Summary We are seeking an Events & External Communications Specialist to build Mavely's reputation with brands and influencers. This role is responsible for events strategy and execution, both in-person and virtually. This includes industry conferences as well as Mavely-owned events. Working with an external public relations team, this person will also work to elevate the Mavely brand by curating and pitching creator stories, developing and maintaining spokespeople across our brand partners, and responding to media inquiries as funneled through our PR team. Essential Functions Events Management
- Build and maintain Mavely's events calendar, collaborating with Community & Revenue teams to reflect company priorities
- Monitor major shopping holidays to create a calendar and playbook for promoting to creators
- Build out Mavely creator meetup strategy, including identifying locations to host events, developing programming for select events, securing co-hosts and guest speakers, and driving attendance through various promotional channels
- In partnership with Community & Campaigns teams, support Mavely-hosted webinars by preparing speakers, developing on-air and promotional content, and managing pre-and post-event communications
- Research, track, and promote speaking and awards opportunities, and pitch Mavely and our clients as speakers at industry conferences, with support from an external Public Relations team
- Develop strategy for each event, collaborating with appropriate teams, and ensure all attending staff members are aligned and prepared
- Liaise with event companies to plan Mavely's involvement as a speaker, sponsor, and/or exhibitor, including negotiating sponsorship packages
- Plan and execute event promotional activities, including email, social, and other channels as needed
- Track and manage budgets and deadlines associated with events, including shipping, printing, sponsor fees, etc.
- Develop goals for each event, track key performance indicators (KPIs) and return on investment (ROI), and report event effectiveness to leadership
- Monitor industry trends and competitor activities
- Occasional travel for domestic events
External Affairs - Collaborate with an external public relations team to curate internal and external Mavely ambassadors to speak to media and at events
- Maintain a list of eligible brand partners who we can mention to media, work with Revenue team to cultivate a list of quotes and spokespeople, and ensure approvals from our brand partners
- Develop a strategy for maintaining a constant flow of creator stories for Mavely owned channels
- Develop a strategy for curating brand case studies, working with Revenue team to execute their creation
- Monitor important Mavely data to proactively pitch important milestones and respond to media requests via our PR team
- Support the launch of the Mavely Impact Program, a philanthropic initiative leveraging our creator network, and strategize and execute its promotion
- Elevate media coverage by providing content for social and email channels, and collaborate to ensure timely promotion
Education & Experience Requirements - A minimum of 2 years of experience in virtual and in-person event coordination/planning and/or public relations
- Preferred: Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, event management, business, hospitality, journalism, public relations, or similar
Knowledge & Skill Requirements - Excellent multitasking, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
- This person must be highly organized, detail-oriented, and deadline-driven, with high standards for quality assurance
- Strong customer service skills and comfort working with high-level executives and pushing tasks to completion among multiple company stakeholders
- An understanding of newsworthiness and storytelling
- Ability to internalize Mavely's voice and values and to communicate them effectively to a wide range of audiences, including third-party vendors
- Comfort with data, with an understanding of which metrics matter internally and externally in order to gauge ROI and pitch compelling stories
- Ability to work with minimum to moderate guidance and direction
