This Fraud Investigator position within the Bureau of Unemployment Compensation is geared toward detecting and preventing improper benefit payments caused by Identity Theft. The selected applicant will work within a small team environment with limited supervision. Job duties may involve working with state and national agencies on fraud prevention, including collaboration with the National Associate of State Workforce Agencies Integrity Data Hub. Infrequent statewide and national travel may be requested. This is a hybrid position with a minimum of one day per week in the listed office closest to the candidate. Remote work would start after the probationary period. For all candidates: State law requires that applicants seeking employment with the Bureau of Unemployment Compensation (BUC) in a position that uses Federal Tax Information (FTI) undergo a fingerprint-based state and criminal history record check. Primary responsibilities include: Review of claimant application data to suspicious indicators. Review of new employer registrations for suspicious indicators. Review of existing data to determine new indicators of fraud. Review of photographs submitted for ID validation. Write fraud determinations as required. Skills or knowledge required: Ability to work both in a small team environment and independently with limited supervision. Ability to communicate effectively in writing through email and formal reports. Ability to communicate effectively orally, both in-person and using video conference software. Minimum qualifications: A Baccalaureate Degree in Criminal Justice, Law, Business or Public Administration, or related field -AND- one year experience in criminal investigation, law enforcement, forensic accounting, auditing, or related field. Directly related work experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis. Preference will be given to those applicants with: Experience in data analytics, legal and regulatory knowledge, risk assessment, financial fraud detection, or technical proficiency.
