Project-Based Impact Consultant: Summer Internship

The Role:

DWM seeks a motivated graduate student to join our team in 2025 (flexible start date). The intern will carry out critical projects within the firm’s fund management team. The role offers an opportunity to work with and learn from deeply knowledgeable and experienced leaders in the impact investment space and gain hands-on experience within an established impact investing firm, working in private markets to drive positive social and environmental impact and significant business value for DWM and its stakeholders. This is a part-time paid position in New York City (requires US work authorization).

Projects will focus on maximizing the effectiveness of DWM’s fund management systems, such as:

• Support in developing investment target portfolios and strategies for all DWM debt funds.
• Support in executing target portfolio strategies, maintenance of tools to ensure that portfolio investments meet PPM and investor guidelines, including concentration limits.
• Support the analysis of new investment products for each fund.
• Support in currency hedge design and execution.
• Design dashboards to set and monitor performance targets for 2024 for each fund, with detailed monthly return attribution.
• Support in the maintenance and improvement of country and currency analysis tools in support of fund investment and management decisions.

The intern will report to DWM’s Fund Manager (based in New York) and have significant engagement with senior leadership, including Partners and Directors on the investment and risk teams.

Qualifications:

The desired characteristics of candidates are as follows:

• Prior experience or demonstrated interest in impact investing, investment banking, investment research, or related fields.
• Experience with Excel modeling and PPT presentations.
• Intermediate MySQL user with trouble shooting skills and / or intermediate VBA user Prior a plus.
• Understanding of financial institutions a plus.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; specifically, the ability to present and communicate complex ideas and analysis to a variety of audiences.
• A college degree with strong academic performance.
• Competency in managing and analyzing large data sets.
• Proactive approach to problem-solving.
• Project management skills and proactive approach to communication and time management.
