IT Systems Security Engineer Location Washington, DC (Anacostia area) :

The Opportunity : Join BAE Systems' Intelligence and Security Sector and be part of a diverse and enthusiastic team who supports the U.S Navy's Strategic System Program (SSP). We are searching for an IT Security Engineer to join the IT Operations team in their support of the customer's Digital Engineering Environment (DEE) Network. The Role: As the IT Security Engineer, you will work with a Team to maintain the stability, availability and security of the Navy's SSP networks. You will:

  • Administer ACAS, ensuring all systems are properly scanned, agents are properly updated and deployed, and ACAS is updated
  • Conduct routine and ad-hoc ACAS scans as required for the information system(s)
  • Administer Splunk log server(s) to include log forwarders, creating/reviewing reports, dashboards, and analysis of abnormalities
  • Administer Endpoint Security Solutions, including Trellix Endpoint Security and Trellix ePolicy Orchestrator server
  • Report findings to the ISSO and work with service area owners to mitigate, patch, or resolve findings
  • Run Security Content Automation Protocol (SCA) tool and EvaluateSTIG on systems to validate system compliance with the DISA Security Technical Implementation Guidelines (STIG)
  • Work with the ISSO to coordinate the closer of findings on the ATO Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&M)
  • Support Risk Management Framework Milestones
Required Education, Experience, & Skills BAE has found that success in this position requires:
  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field and six (6) years relate work experience or Master's degree and four years related work experience.
  • Working full time on-site at the Washington Navy Yard
  • Meet the requirements for an IAT II as specified in the DoD 8570
    • Or, have a SECNAV 5239 qualifying degree and meet the requirements for an IAT II as specified in the DoD 8570 within 6 months of start date
  • Experience with Tenable Nessus & SecurityCenter (ACAS) to include creating, running, and analyzing scans and their reports
  • In-depth experience as a system administrator with experience on Windows Servers and RHEL Servers
  • Experience creating, configuring, and analyzing log reports and dashboards within Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) software such as Splunk
  • Experience with DISA Security Technical Information Guidelines (STIGs) and Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP) tool and analyzing findings
  • General knowledge of the Risk Management Framework (RMF) process and applicable security controls to assist ISSO/ISSM with obtaining system accreditation(s)
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with partners and government officials
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills Additional education, experience, and skills that will further contribute to your success include:
  • Experience working in a DoD IT environment
  • Experience working on classified networks
  • Graduate Degree in Cyber Security or related field
Pay Information Full-Time Salary Range: $109120 - $185460 Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
