Job Description

Laundry Worker - Part-Time - Enjoy a rewarding and challenging position with a nonprofit organization that has been helping educate, train, and provide employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities since 1955. We are currently seeking applicants for a part-time Laundry Worker who can work as a member of a team processing linen in an industrial laundry setting. Work schedule includes some weekends and most holidays. Must have the availability to work 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM Monday through Saturday.

The position must be filled by an individual with a documented disability.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following duties and responsibilities represent the essential functions of this job that an individual must be able to perform with or without reasonable accommodation:

  • Hand-folds linen according to customer specifications
  • Folds or feeds clean linen items into pressing and ironing equipment
  • Soil sorts separate, packs, and weighs linens for delivery to the customer
  • Follows all procedures and safety regulations, promptly reporting accidents, critical incidents, and injuries
  • Works as a team with others to ensure efficient program operation
  • Comply with all safety procedures and requirements and attends training sessions accordingly
  • No travel required

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, & EXPERIENCE:

The following qualifications represent the training, education, certifications, licensures, and/or work experience required to perform the essential duties and responsibilities successfully:

  • Ability to maintain regular attendance, follow instructions, and perform at 80% or higher productivity
  • Capable of using equipment for processing laundry
  • Basic knowledge of safe work practices

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Physical demands: Performing the duties of this job requires near visual acuity, the ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and/or other sounds, and gross manipulation. Additionally, the employee:

  • Must be free of tuberculosis in a communicable form
  • Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 50 pounds and withstand prolonged periods of standing
  • Must be able to perform tasks that require a full range of motion including, but not limited to crouching, stooping, or reaching at/below shoulder level and overhead

Work environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be primarily in an industrial setting and may be exposed to dust/lint. Must be able to withstand extreme fluctuations of temperature and noise level. Work schedule includes some weekends and most holidays.
