Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Safely and efficiently operate front end loader and/or heavy equipment of various sizes and weights used in the quarry.     
  • Responsible for the efficient working conditions of the loaders.  This includes: performing routine maintenance including minor servicing, maintenance, and cleaning of the loader.
  • Responsible for alerting the supervisor of any significant problems.
  • Maintain hopper level to crusher to achieve maximum production.
  • Maintain stockpiles and yard.
  • Load dump/end dumps trucks.
  • Assist with maintenance around the plant.
  • Monitor operations to ensure that health and safety standards are met.
  • Must have the initiative, ability, and willingness to perform and assist with other job positions for job completion as requested.

Qualifications

  • The ideal candidate will have 2 or more years of wheel loader experience.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to operate the loader, excellent safety awareness, and a willingness to comply with company policies and safety standards.
  • Must understand proper stockpile management methods.
  • Effective communication with other operators, truck drivers, and the general public is critical.
  • Must have the ability to operate and maintain Loader with little or no supervision.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Must wear proper attire at all times including: safety vests, safety glasses, long pants, safety-toed shoes, and reflect a clean and presentable image.
  • Project a positive and cooperative attitude by maintaining courteous and professional conduct with supervisors, co-workers, customers, and the general public.

Working Conditions

  • This job requires the ability to lift, pull, and push a minimum of 50 lbs., bend, stoop, kneel, reach, squat twist, and climb heavy equipment several times throughout the day, and balance at heights up to 6 feet from ground level. In addition, you must have the ability to be on your feet regularly and use hands, arms, and legs repeatedly on the job.  This includes frequently walking on sloped ground and slippery and uneven surfaces, as well as working in confined areas.

  • The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is exposed to moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions, and vibration. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
