Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing (MEP) Supervisor

Job Summary:

Provides direct oversight for operational and maintenance decisions involving staff and contractor deployment, assigning and scheduling work, resource leveling, and overall team building among assigned workforce. This labor force will be comprised primarily of, but not limited to Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) trades.

Job Description:

Will be involved in the management of the building automation and control systems, and plumbing and electrical distribution throughout the campus. will assist in the preparation of requisitions, contracts, RFPs', and purchase orders. Develop and implement systems and processes to establish and maintain records for the Distributed Building Systems. is responsible for monitoring and maintaining records of preventive maintenance (PM) and proactive maintenance on all applicable equipment and is responsible for overseeing daily work performance; ensuring work is being performed effectively and efficiently.

Provides customer follow-up to ensure quality and timeliness of work. Supports all designated initiatives while ensuring adherence to the collective bargaining agreement. Also, supports all initiatives involving Worker Safety and sustainability. Ensure compliance with all University and departmental policies and procedures. Manages and participates in grievance/discipline process. Assist with the coordination work activities with all levels of staff, including managers and supervisors, and outside vendors/contractors

Works with university partners, vendors, and the Design and Construction group to meet established service priorities/requests. Develops working knowledge of time and attendance and divisional work order systems; ensures accuracy of payroll inputs.

Monitors and participates in professional development, training and talent management programs.

Skills, Qualifications & Requirements:

Qualifications

  • Technical School diploma or equivalent is required and 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience working with commercial/industrial building HVAC systems.

  • BA/BS preferred.

  • A minimum of five years of building and/or plant engineering experience with residential and commercial buildings MEP systems background, preferably in a unionized work environment, and in an academic or similarly complex environment.

  • Must have strong understanding of HVAC, Refrigeration, Chiller Operation, Building Automation Systems, Cooling Tower Operations, Water Treatment techniques, Plumbing and Electrical.

  • familiarity with building digital control systems as well as utilities infrastructure.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multi-skilled technical groups and multiple competing demands on resources.

  • Significant experience using a computerized maintenance/ work order management system to monitor and control all aspect of the maintenance operation.

  • Knowledge of city/state/codes and ASHRE standards.

  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, supervisory, team-building, written and verbal communication, and organizational skills.

  • Strong financial and analytical skills.

  • Proven record of strong customer service skills.

Salary Range : $83,000 - $88,000

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the College's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
