Job Title: Patient Care Technician (PCT) - CWR

Location:  Neptune, NJ 07754
Contract: 13 weeks 
Hours Per Week: 36 Hours  
Shift:  7:00 AM - 7:30 PM

Job Summary:
The Patient Care Technician (PCT) assists registered nurses in providing quality care to patients across various age groups. The PCT is responsible for direct patient care, monitoring vital signs, assisting with daily activities, and ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for patients.

Key Responsibilities:

• Welcome patients and verify identification bracelets.
• Prepare patients for assessments, physical examinations, and procedures.
• Perform blood draws (intravenous or capillary) from newborn to geriatric patients using aseptic collection techniques.
• Conduct EKGs as directed.
• Ensure all necessary medical equipment is functional and clean.
• Assist in transporting patients to different departments or units.
• Provide assistance with meals, feeding, and patient hygiene, including bathing, toileting, and oral care.
• Restock medical supplies in assigned areas.
• Assist with patient admission processes and ensure rooms are prepared.
• Take and document vital signs upon admission, reporting any abnormal findings to the RN.
• Perform and document glucose finger sticks and collect other specimens as required.
• Monitor and record daily patient weights, intake, and output.
• Respond promptly to patient call lights and report any changes in condition to the RN.
• Provide patient-centered care by considering individual needs such as age, culture, language, or impairments.
• Communicate effectively with patients, caregivers, and healthcare teams to ensure coordinated care.

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• BLS/CPR certification from the American Heart Association.
• Certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), or Patient Care Technician (PCT) with completed coursework in Phlebotomy, EKG, and nursing assistance.

Preferred Qualifications:

• At least one (1) year of PCT experience in a hospital setting.
• Experience with IV procedures, phlebotomy, and EPIC electronic health record system.
