Position Title: Patrol Officer
Salary Information: $33.37 to $38.91 per hour (2024). Includes $1.50 per hour night shift differential.
Benefits: Medical, dental, vision, and life coverage; holiday and sick time. Prior service credit for sick leave up to 960 hours for officers transferring from another public agency.

Education: High School Graduate or GED
Driver's License: Valid state driver's license
Language: Ability to read and speak English
College: Not required, but additional credit available (see below).
Academy Certification: Not required. Paid peace officer academy training is available, contingent on signing a two-year agreement with reimbursement to the city if employment ends within two years of completing FTO training.
Prior Experience: Preferred but not necessary.
Necessary Certifications: Candidates must pass the Physical Agility Testing. Information on testing can be obtained from Tri-C.
Hiring Process:
Candidates must complete and submit a notarized Macedonia Civil Service Application, which can be emailed, mailed, or dropped off in person at the City Center.
Candidates must take the Frontline National exam through the National Testing Network and submit scores by Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at 4:00 PM.
A passing score of at least 70% on the Frontline National video is required to be ranked on the Macedonia Patrol Officer Eligibility List.
Additional Credit (for a passing grade of 70%, up to 20 points):
Ten (10) points for a minimum of two years of continuous full-time police officer experience, with separation from the previous department occurring within the last year.
Five (5) points for current peace officer certification or academy enrollment.
Five (5) points for an Associate's degree in Criminal Justice.
Five (5) points for prior military service (DD214 stating honorable discharge required). Documentation must be submitted to the Macedonia Civil Service Commission by Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at 4:00 PM.
Physical Agility Test Certificates Accepted:
OPOTC Academy Physical Agility Certificates completed within the last 12 months.
Certificate of Completion of Physical Agility Test (PAT) from the Tri-C Police Training Academy, Western Campus, Parma, Ohio. The PAT certificate from Tri-C is valid for one year from the date of issuance. Candidates must schedule PAT through Tri-C, and registration is required. PAT is offered on August 18 and September 22, 2024. The PAT certificate should preferably be submitted with the application but must be submitted by the time of appointment.
Additional Information:
Final review and certification of the eligibility list is at the discretion of the Macedonia Civil Service Commission. Eligible candidates must pass psychological, physical, and polygraph tests, as well as EKG, drug screening (with periodic screening during employment), background check, and a personal interview with the appointing authority.
Eligible candidates must be non-smokers and remain non-smokers throughout their employment.
