Job Description

The Physician Liaison is responsible for implementing relevant outreach plans and efforts to market clinical services to providers with the goal of growing and developing referrals to Troy Regional Medical Center.  This includes spending the majority of their week in the region, meeting with providers, clinical managers and nurses at health care systems within their territory.  The liaison will set up meetings/events, which include driving Troy Regional providers into the region to participate in these activities.  The position primarily focuses on building relationships through educating regional providers on pre-specified, targeted areas of focus to increase referral volumes and meet the needs of referring providers.  The liaison will also attend internal meetings to meet new providers and/or learn about strategic initiatives that will promote into the region.

2.         POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Education:                                                                                                                                                    
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, or another healthcare-related field.

Experience:                                                                                                   
* Five years of business development experience in the healthcare setting.
* Five years of experience in the healthcare industry is required.  Direct health sales or clinical experience preferred.
*Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presenting complex information clearly and concisely.
3.         GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Strategically plans and implements outreach efforts to generate new patient volume with strategically defined service lines.
2. Communicates the concerns of external providers to internal leadership and provide follow-up.
3. Communicate with hospitals to ensure they receive the practice’s referrals, contact patients, and report results to the practice.
4. Works closely with the Chief Executive Officer to discuss marketing activities, identify new business, potential problems and opportunities, and identify and implement ways to streamline referrals.
5. Develops relationships with physicians and key influencers to drive patient volume, enhance loyalty, strengthen physician-to-physician relationships, and increase referrals to Troy Regional Medical Center.
6. Effectively uses all marketing and communications tools to promote the Troy Regional brand and specific service lines, using key communication strategies, techniques, and tools.
7. Maintains client confidentiality according to state statutes, federal regulations, and policies and procedures to protect patient’s rights.
8. Participates in or attends public speaking engagements, trade shows, business meetings, and seminars to promote the expertise of the Troy Regional Medical Center physicians and facilities.
9. Communicates opportunities to the Chief Executive Officer, which may assist in developing strategic objectives that may improve volume.
10. Inform physicians and staff barriers to success within the industry and troubleshoot overcoming the obstacles.
11. Conducts marketing and sales calls with physicians and clinical staff as appropriate to secure business.  Identifies practice administrators and referral coordinators. 
12. Provide competitive insights and market intelligence.
13. Submit weekly status reports and present such information during scheduled meetings. 
14. Maintains an awareness of competitive activity within the market and updates information as needed.
15. Executes a monthly plan/budget and submits expense reports accurately and timely.
