Policy and Communications Coordinator Location Remote : POSITION SUMMARY: Children's HealthWatch is a multi-site network of pediatricians and public health researchers, headquartered at Boston Medical Center, which carries out research on how public policies can support the health and development of children under four. The network has research sites in Boston, Little Rock, Minneapolis, and Philadelphia. The Policy and Communications Coordinator is an entry-level position and will be responsible for supporting and carrying out research, policy, and communications work with the Center team while under the direction of the Director of Policy and Communications. They will attend meetings, support the writing and promotion of reports and briefs, and represent Children's HealthWatch in ways that further the organization's work and mission. The Coordinator will work closely with the policy team on identifying and promoting policy priorities and work with the Director on creating strategies to uplift the work of Children's HealthWatch online, at events, and with traditional media. Position: Policy and Communications Coordinator Department: CHW - Z Fund Schedule: Full Time ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES: Center Duties - under supervision of Director of Policy and Communications
Communications - Assists the Director in the crafting of communications and messaging strategies that advance the mission of Children's HealthWatch.
- Under supervision of the Director implements the communications and messaging strategies as directed across multiple platforms - including emails, social media, website, and traditional media.
- Tracks and keeps regular standard reports key metrics surrounding communications, reach, and interactions.
- Creates draft materials to be approved and used online and in print to support the entire team.
- Supports coordination, as needed, with the Boston Medical Center Communication Team.
- Works with other staff members on projects within the organization—including research, policy, and grant work. This includes drafting, editing, and informing print publications and academic or policy-relevant presentations.
- Assists the Director and Senior Research and Policy Analyst to advance policy work of Children's HealthWatch through participation in state and national coalitions, legislative meetings, and conferences as well as drafting or reviewing policy-relevant documents including written testimony, letters to legislators/administrators, statements, and policy briefs/reports.
- Assists the team as they work to interpret and translate Children's HealthWatch research and the research of others into policy-relevant materials.
- Assists in the engagement of community members, organizational partners, and policymakers to advance evidence-based policies for promoting health equity.
- Supports the Director in building relationships and campaign strategies for Children's HealthWatch engagement in promoting evidence-based priorities in Arkansas, Minnesota, Maryland, and Pennsylvania, in addition to ongoing work in Massachusetts.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED: EXPERIENCE: - 0 -2 years of relevant experience in public health, policy advocacy, or research
- Preferred previous policy, public health, community organizing, and research experience
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: - Passion and drive to ensure the healthy development of all young children in the United States
- Commitment to the advancement of racial and health equity among families with children
- Excellent oral and written communications skills, including an understanding or willingness to learn about inclusive messaging towards diverse audiences
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, web-based communication programs, and social media platforms
- Willingness to learn new electronic systems
- Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work in teams and take direction and feedback, relate to people, advocate for their needs and the needs of others, and manage conflict
- Cultural sensitivity and comfort working with diverse populations
- Time management skills
