Role Overview: 

The Project Manager (PM) is responsible for managing scope, budget and schedule for projects or multiple projects with complex delivery requirements. The project manager serves as part of a cross-functional team focused on delivering projects on-time and on-budget from programming to letting to field completion. INDOT PM's facilitate work with various levels of engagement depending on the nature and complexity of the work.


A PM's primary responsibilities are including but not limited to:
• Serve as a primary point-of-contact for all project stakeholders.
• Track the overall work progress and provide process support throughout each stage of a project.
• Identify and mitigate project risk towards successful completion

 

Salary

This position traditionally starts at an annual salary of $67,314.00. Salary for this position may be commensurate with education and job experience. 

 

Location

This position is located in INDOT’s Crawfordsville area.

 

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows:

  • Serve as a primary point of contact and is responsible for overall work progress and technical performance of project.
  • Support a strong project management culture by coaching and mentoring entry-level project managers.
  • Responsible for assembling project team and assigning individual responsibilities.
  • Understand project objectives and role of each team members.
  • Review contract plans specifications and estimates for scope, compliance, and constructability.
  • Attend key project meetings and work with team to ensure project scope compliance.
  • Prepare reports and analysis to manage risk and recommend necessary adjustments.
  • Present project status and manage the project change process.
  • May delegate low-level project tasks to assigned project manager.
  • Preside as project start-up meeting to communicate plan to team.
  • Manage the project team through all phases of project planning, execution, and closeout consistent with established project delivery processes to meet the scope, schedule, budget, and other specified requirements.
  • Complete the scope of work while ensuring quality, financial, risk management and policy expectations are met.
  • Responsible for overall work progress and performance on project.
  • Review and understand all functional requirements to ensure expectations are clear and establish predictable workloads.

What You'll Need for Success:

The ideal candidate in this role should minimally have either 

  • a Bachelor’s Degree with 3+ years of experience, or 
  • an Associate’s Degree with 5+ years of experience, or 
  • at least 7+ years of experience applying the below, outlined knowledge, skills, and abilities in a similar role.

Related certifications and coursework may be considered for education or experience.

  • Advanced knowledge of project budgets with understanding of all financial implications/issues;
  • Ability to minimize and manage changes to the scope of a project;
  • Ability to manage project uncertainly and applies resources to minimize, monitor and/or control risks;
  • Ability to understand project objectives and outline the role of each team member;
  • Ability to effectively manage major conflicts that may arise;
  • Advanced range of experience managing environmental documents;
  • Detail oriented to ensure compliance with contract terms and condition.
  • Effective communication skills;
  • Ability to engage project specific public and agency stakeholders.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
