Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Regional Medical Director - Psychiatry to lead our team in delivering high-quality behavioral health care. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact in psychiatric care while ensuring the highest standards of clinical excellence.
In this leadership role, you will balance 50% administrative and 50% clinical responsibilities, overseeing a team of clinicians, including physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and therapists. Your expertise will be essential in guiding clinical operations, supporting provider development, and enhancing patient care.
Key Responsibilities
Administrative Leadership:
Provide leadership and support for all clinicians in the market.
Collaborate with Human Resources to identify and fulfill staffing needs.
Assist in recruiting, screening, and interviewing new clinicians.
Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and industry standards.
Keep providers up to date with mental health trends and evidence-based care.
Offer direct feedback to leadership and contribute to program development.
Represent the medical team in leadership meetings.
Promote strong communication between therapy providers and the clinical team.
Facilitate onboarding and training for new clinicians.
Approve or deny clinician time-off requests in a timely manner.
Monitor clinician morale and provide support when needed.
Address operational issues and provide guidance to the team.
Conduct regular peer meetings and support professional development.
Assist in developing and implementing clinical policies and procedures.
Oversee productivity and ensure effective practice operations.
Supervise market medical resource directors and assist in business growth initiatives.
Address risk management concerns through primary and secondary prevention strategies.
Clinical Care:
Provide high-quality, patient-centered, evidence-based psychiatric care.
Use a range of treatment modalities based on expertise and training.
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop personalized treatment plans.
Ensure HIPAA compliance and maintain confidentiality at all times.
Offer psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning.
Utilize psychopharmacology, psychoeducation, interventional psychiatry, and psychotherapy as appropriate.
Communicate effectively with psychotherapists, external providers, and family members as needed.
Maintain thorough documentation in accordance with industry standards.
Complete administrative tasks such as referrals and prior authorizations.
Utilize electronic medical records, telehealth platforms, and other digital tools.
Be available for both in-person and telehealth services, ensuring regulatory compliance.
Provide mentorship and training to early-career providers.
Demonstrate cultural competency and empathy in all patient interactions.
Qualifications:
Board Certification in Psychiatry
Active Virginia and/or Maryland Medical License
Current DEA and Controlled Substance License
Previous leadership experience preferred

This role requires an average 40-hour workweek, with at least two in-office days per week, and the option to work remotely for the remaining time.
