Job Description

Safety Manager Job Overview: The Safety Inspector is responsible for ensuring a safe and compliant work environment within our automotive facilities. This role involves conducting regular inspections, assessing safety practices, and ensuring adherence to all local, state, and federal safety regulations. The Safety Inspector works closely with various departments to identify potential hazards, implement preventive measures, and promote a culture of safety. Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct Safety Inspections: Perform regular, detailed inspections of all equipment, machinery, and facilities to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Identify Hazards: Proactively identify potential hazards or unsafe practices and work with teams to develop corrective actions to mitigate risk.
  • Investigate Incidents and Injuries: Lead investigations of workplace accidents or near-miss incidents, gather information, and create detailed reports to prevent future occurrences.
  • Compliance Monitoring: Ensure that the organization complies with OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) regulations and other relevant safety laws and industry standards.
  • Safety Audits: Conduct internal audits and safety assessments of workstations, tools, and operational procedures.
  • Training and Education: Develop and deliver safety training programs to employees, ensuring everyone understands safety protocols and regulations.
  • Report Preparation: Create comprehensive reports on safety inspections, audit findings, and incident investigations to be shared with the management team.
  • Emergency Response: Assist in the development and maintenance of emergency response plans, including conducting drills and reviewing response protocols with staff.
  • Safety Program Development: Collaborate with management to continually improve safety policies, procedures, and initiatives.
  • Document Control: Maintain detailed records of safety inspections, incidents, training programs, and compliance efforts.
  • PPE Management: Ensure proper use, availability, and maintenance of personal protective equipment (PPE) across all departments.
  • Work Independently – ability to work independently and set your own schedule.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field preferred.
  • Certifications: OSHA certification or similar safety training required. Additional certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) are advantageous.
  • Experience: 2+ years of experience in safety inspection or safety management in a manufacturing or automotive setting preferred.
  • Knowledge of Regulations: Strong understanding of OSHA regulations, workplace safety standards, and industry-specific safety requirements.
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to identify safety hazards and implement corrective actions effectively.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear reports and effectively deliver safety training to employees at all levels.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills and the ability to investigate and resolve safety issues promptly.
  • Team Collaboration: Ability to work closely with various departments to ensure a unified approach to safety.
