BAE Systems is seeking a motivated Senior Systems Engineer for an exciting opportunity to support BAE Systems, Intelligence & Security, Air and Space Force Solutions serving the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) Munitions Directorate (RW). The Directorate's emphasis is on the weapon's capability to operate with complete autonomy and with high accuracy when delivered against ground targets in all weather conditions, day or night, using long- or short-range delivery tactics. Job Details This Systems Engineer position will support the Advanced Technology Support Program Contract and the Air and Space Force Solutions business. They will be responsible for helping to drive a uniform technical and management approach that leverages advanced technologies to meet the requirements of the Department of Defense (DoD) for a quick reaction capability across the spectrum of technology development. This Systems Engineer plays a crucial role in the organization by modernizing and re-architecting engineering data to architecture models in SysML with support of the subject matter experts, working closely with a team to support the government with the transformation of paper-based documents to Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) products. Primary duties include: - Use Model Based Systems Engineering principles to create and maintain system requirements and engineering artifacts
- Develop MBSE approaches in the areas of weapons technology, system structure, and system of systems architectures
- Create system patterns, ontologies, and architectures in both system and reference architectures
- Oversee all modeling activities, and set rules for model development
- Create and manage requirements traceability for various complex systems
- Presents model-based reviews and results to internal and external stakeholders
- Understand and implement modern modeling methodologies to support the creation, maintenance, and understanding of digital threads at the strategic and operational levels
- Standardize model profiles and libraries for reuse within DoD architectures
This position will be located at or near Hill AFB, Utah initially, with the potential future option of moving to Eglin AFB, FL. Required Education, Experience, & Skills - 7 years (or 5 years with MS degree) of progressive experience in systems integration and analysis of military hardware and software systems/processes. 2 years' experience leading system design, integration, and analytical efforts
- Developing reports and technical documentation; coordinating directly and continuously with senior Business, Customer, Government, and Military officials
- Proficiency with Agile PM tools such as Atlassian JIRA/Confluence
- Familiarity with the Systems Modeling Language (SysML) or the Unified Modeling Language (UML)
- Proficiency with Cameo/NoMagic
- Familiarity with Lifecycle/Systems Engineering (SE) principle as defined by ISO15288, International Council of Systems Engineers (INCOSE), or the Defense Acquisition Guidebook (DAG)
- Must be capable of performing analysis of system operations
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills - DoD Security Clearance
- Systems Modeling Language (SysML)
- Proficiency with Cameo/NoMagic
- Working knowledge of Java Scriptor, Python, and Application Programming Interface (API) development
- Experience in Cloud native and DevSecOps environments
- Object Management Group (OMG) Certified SysML Professional (OCSMP) - Model Builder Fundamental (MBF) or higher
- INCOSE Systems Engineering Professional (SEP) certification
- Experience modeling complex systems for Department of Defense (DoD) or other government organizations
- In-depth understanding in the application of one or more modeling methodologies (UAFp, DoDAF, MoDAF, Zachmann, MagicGrid, SYSMOD, OOSEM, etc..)
- Experience publishing models to web-based (.html) or document-based (Velocity Template Language - VTL) formats
Pay Information Full-Time Salary Range: $100530 - $170910 Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
