University of California Irvine Specialist - STEM Teaching and Learning

Position description A research specialist is needed in Dr. Santagata's research lab at the University of California, Irvine, to support research on externally funded projects that center on mathematics teaching at the elementary school and college level and on the use of AI to enhance science communication education at the high-school level.
The researcher will join a dynamic and diverse research team and assist in the following activities: collecting and analyzing data; writing reports, articles, and presentations; managing relations and communications with school districts and university partners; and mentoring undergraduate student research assistants.
The starting date for the position is negotiable, ideally not later than November 1st. The appointment will be for one year with the possibility of extension pending availability of funding. Appointment will be at the Junior or Assistant Specialist level depending on prior experience and degree.
Requirements: Candidates must possess outstanding research, writing, and communication skills and interest or experience in STEM education research. Interest or background in the education of English language learners, K-12 education, curriculum development, and teacher professional development are desired. The position will involve working collaboratively with members of the research team and requires flexibility and adaptability. Local daytime travel to schools in Southern California is required so the candidate will require their own transportation.
