Role Summary

Rivian is looking for a Fire Alarm Systems Specialist to support our facility wide life safety systems in multiple buildings in Normal, IL. As a Fire Alarm Systems Specialist, you will have the opportunity to work on complex fire alarm systems in one of the fastest growing industries in the country and make a true impact in keeping employees, visitors, and facility infrastructure safe. This role is in Normal IL and reports to the Manager of Maintenance. 


Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections, testing, and maintenance of complex fire alarm systems
  • Coordinate with appropriate parties for impairments and testing times
  • Assist in commissioning of new fire alarm devices and/or software
  • Assist in designing or upgrading system components and/or new installations
  • Be available for emergency repairs on the fire alarm system when issues affect production
  • Identify and source parts, supplies, and repair items as necessary 
  • Independently perform maintenance on the systems as per industry standards 
  • May be required to setup and operate scissor lifts, boom lifts, or single manlifts
  • Comply with 5S and housekeeping standards
  • Drive and participate in CI activities - processes, results, and cost savings
  • Keep detailed and accurate records of inspections and findings per industry standards
  • Utilize and skillfully navigate industry codes and standards for proper inspection/testing frequencies, design principles, etc.
  • Troubleshoot and analyze fire alarm systems and accessory devices to resolve operating problems
  • Provide training to Maintenance Technicians on basic terminology, usage, and functions of fire alarm systems.
  • Provide training to personnel on monitoring the fire alarm system and dispatch duties.
  • Create maps, standard operating procedures, and training materials utilizing multiple methods.
  • Assist with other life safety system tasks that may include fire sprinklers, fire extinguishers, clean agents, and exit signage.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Follow all safety related policies, rules, regulations, technical instructions, and guidelines. Situational awareness and identify unsafe behaviors and conditions

Qualifications

  • Understand electrical theory and principles. Can analyze problems and perform repairs 
  • Ability to use basic hand tools and specialized tools as appropriate 
  • Experience operating aerial lifts of multiple types
  • May be required to travel between building sites
  • Edwards EST III and EST IV Certified
  • 5+ Years of experience in industrial fire alarms
  • 10+ Years of experience in low voltage applications
  • NICET Level II (preferred)
  • Degree in appropriate discipline or skilled trades (preferred)
