DESCRIPTION

The Amazon Worldwide Operations Security (WWOS) Global Physical Security (GPS) team is looking for an independent, highly talented, fast-paced and motivated Senior Technical Program Manager. This position will join a cadre of experienced and skilled program managers and security engineers in managing security technologies globally.

GPS is responsible for creating, implementing, and overseeing Amazon operations security infrastructure and technical improvements. As a Senior Technical Program Manager supporting the GPS Team, you will use continuous improvement/change management to create, coordinate, and facilitate implementation of new and improved structures, processes, and activities. For this role you will need to be adaptable, motivated to solve problems, and thrive on implementing high standard productivity and simplicity using project management methodology. In this role, you must be able to develop and lead individual or group assignments with little or no instruction, work interdependently with other teams, and be able to deliver clear, concise, and on-schedule results.

This position requires deep customer focus, strong self-motivation, and exceptional project management skills. It will involve regular communication with project sponsors and requires you to be detail-oriented and comfortable partnering with cross-functional business and technical teams. To be successful in this role, you need to pair strong analytical skills and a data-driven outlook with strong intuition.

Key job responsibilities
- Deliver quantitative metrics on the status of key internal programs or projects
- Proactively manage changes in project scopes, identify potential crises, and devise contingency reaction plans
- The ability to drive innovation and look around corners while finding better ways to serve our customers.
- Improve and scale our program as customer’s needs increase
- Partner directly with security customers/partners in support of existing locations and emerging environments
- Develop and review new technology and security measures for possible application to the existing suite of security processes and measures, in order to enhance the security posture of our data facilities
- Proactively keep WWOS leadership fully informed of customer engagement, status, issues, and activities
- Remain connected with industry trends and events. Develop and maintain connections with key industry personnel and manufacturers

A day in the life
You will own the completion of an array of projects and security initiatives/activities designed to protect your fellow Amazonians. You obsess over internal and external customers and successfully deliver support and services in a very high growth environment where priorities shift extremely fast. You are also independent and can manage security program projects under minimal supervision, continuously triage and prioritize accordingly, communicate clearly and compellingly and deliver exceptional products.

The successful candidate for this role is willing to work at all levels from the theoretical knowledge of security principles, to the practical application and real-world implementation of processes and measures.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 5+ years of technical product or program management experience
- 5+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience
- Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science or equivalent
- 3+ year of experience working with a video surveillance focus in production environments
- 3+ years of experience of working with, deploying, or supporting Physical Security projects and/or infrastructure
