Job Title : Surgical Tech CWR

Location: Holmdel, NJ

Duration : 13-week assignment

Schedule : Monday - Friday, 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM (5x8)

No Weekends, Holidays, On-call, or Float Requirements

Job Summary:

The Surgical Tech I is responsible for handling, cleaning, and organizing surgical instruments following standard protocols. The position involves ensuring accurate instrument counts, managing contamination, and assisting in the overall care and safety of the surgical environment.

Essential Job Functions:

1. Follows standardized setup procedures, utilizing surgeon preferences, and organizes instruments before returning them to the decontamination room.
2. Maintains accurate counts of sponges, needles, and instruments; labels and administers medications per established policies.
3. Handles specimens in accordance with O.R. policies and procedures.
4. Ensures decontamination, disinfection, sterilization, and sanitation of instruments and equipment.
5. Properly disposes of used equipment and contaminated needles/syringes at the end of procedures.
6. Participates in team conferences, assists in evaluating the effectiveness of patient care, and helps revise care plans as needed.
7. Maintains proficiency in surgical technician skills by keeping the ST skills checklist up to date.
8. Must be capable of lifting a minimum of 50 lbs., pushing and pulling up to 400 lbs., and standing for the length of the shift.
9. Adjusts care to meet the specific needs of diverse patient populations, including age, culture, and disabilities, ensuring effective communication with patients and caregivers.
10. Adheres to the Medical Center's organizational competencies and standards.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Minimum 2-3 years of experience as an OR Surgical Technician .
• Proficiency in General Surgery , Orthopedics , Vascular , Robotics , EMT , and Urology is required.

Education:

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist Program or an appropriate training program.

Certifications & Licenses:

• BLS (AHA) - Required.
• Professional certification by the AST - Preferred.
