Purpose
The Purchasing Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating the daily activity associated with raw material purchasing for Barrett Petfood, including but not limited to; proteins, grains, minerals, palatant, oils, etc.

Responsibilities
  • Report out and analyze purchase demands from the ERP system to determine upcoming needs according to the production schedule.
  • Understand, coordinate, and anticipate lead times on Ingredients.
  • Issue day-to-day purchase orders with supply partners.
  • Manage communication of lead time modifications and availability of materials.
  • Understand and track the shelf-life of materials, keeping waste to a minimum.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to set up and track deliveries of ingredients.
  • Work closely with the QA team when issues arise.
  • Track pricing discrepancies with accounting and supplier follow-up if needed. 
  • Keep up with day-to-day demand of raw materials to adequately supply the production schedule.
  • Ensure adequate and appropriate documentation exists with suppliers.
  • Work with production staff on shipping or product issues and resolve it with the suppliers as needed.
  • Cross functional work with scheduling to ensure production schedule is efficient dealing with ingredients.
Education and Experience
  • Strong Microsoft Office experience
  • Familiarity with inventor software
  • 1-2 years purchasing experience desired
  • Familiarity with sourcing and vendor relationships.
  • Working experience of vendor management software.

Pay
  • Starting pay will range from $49,700 to $52,000 depending on qualifications
