The world's leading enterprises use our unified security and observability platform to keep their digital systems secure and reliable. While customers love our technology, it's our people that make Splunk stand out as an amazing career destination and why we've won so many awards as a best place to work. If you become a Splunker, we want your whole, authentic self, what we call your "million data points". So bring your work experience, problem-solving skills and talent, of course, but also bring your joy, your passion and all the things that make you, you.
Role Summary
Do you have a passion for creating helpful information about enterprise software? Do you want to work with an Information Experience team that contributes to product documentation and also the entire user experience? Spend your winter with us at Splunk!
Splunk is looking for a highly motivated and technically curious college student to join our team. Past interns have worked on projects such as writing software documentation for real customers, designing new types of information, and contributing to UI design and text. Our goal is to support your growth and development and empower you to complete meaningful work.
Every intern also has the opportunity to experience Splunk's dynamic software engineering environment. Working to support internal and external customer information needs, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams, receive mentorship, and gain insight into our product development process.
Please include a cover letter that helps us understand what makes you excited about Information Experience and what you're motivated to accomplish!
What you'll get to do
As a Technical Writer Intern you will:
Partner closely with writers, software developers, UX designers, and product managers to update existing technical content and create new materials based on customer requests and internal requirements.
Work in an Agile software development environment that uses industry-standard tools to manage and coordinate work.
Gain hands-on experience creating and publishing informational content for docs.splunk.com, dev.splunk.com, or other Splunk sites.
Use your curiosity and fresh perspective as a new Splunk software user to offer suggestions for improving Splunk documentation
Work with expert writers, editors, and doc team managers to learn what information design and technical writing looks like in the real world: part software development, part user experience design, part investigative journalism.
Must-have Qualifications
Actively pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Technical Writing, Communications, Journalism, Computer Science or a related technical field, and a strong record of academic achievement.
At least one semester/quarter remaining to complete after the internship
Available to work 40 hours a week for 15 weeks from January 6 - April 18, 2025
Nice-to-have Qualifications
We’ve taken special care to separate the must-have qualifications from the nice-to-haves. “Nice-to-have” means just that: Nice. To. Have. So, don’t worry if you can’t check off every box. We’re not hiring a list of bullet points–we’re interested in the whole you.
A creative approach to problem solving and content creation. Tell us what we can do better for our customers and help us deliver on it!
An investigative mindset that likes to explore independently and also interact with peers and experts in order to learn new things.
